Prop Research Alerts: Preserve Missing Inputs in AND and OR Rules
A compound alert combines inputs according to a rule. Before using its output as preparation evidence, retain each input and how missing values were treated. A notification by itself cannot reconstruct those details.

Define the research truth convention
For this worksheet only, use true, false and unknown. AND is false when either input is false, true when both are true, and otherwise unknown. OR is true when either input is true, false when both are false, and otherwise unknown.
These are explicit teaching conventions, not a claim about every alert platform. The actual service may reject missing inputs or handle them differently. Save its current definition before assigning the same labels to a real notification record.
Inspect a fictional price-and-volume alert
Suppose the supplied price condition is true while the volume observation is missing. Under the stated convention, price AND volume is unknown, while price OR volume is true. The OR result does not establish that volume met its condition.
If volume later becomes available, retain its actual observation time. A later value should not silently replace the unknown input at the original decision. A London diary can display those instants locally while preserving the original full dates and offsets.
| Inputs A / B | A AND B | A OR B |
|---|---|---|
| True / true | True | True |
| True / unknown | Unknown | True |
| False / unknown | False | Unknown |
| False / false | False | False |
Keep the next account step independent
This site’s existing truth-table resource remains the companion for alert logic. A complete preparation record includes rule version, inputs and timing. An actual evaluation review additionally needs confirmed execution, quantity, costs and the applicable account conditions.
The optional sponsored HashHedge link is for current programme information. No alert is installed or followed and no account outcome is inferred. The worked table identifies what the output can establish without pretending that a signal is an execution or likely pass.
